Robert ‘Bobby’ Miller and his parent John and Carol were going to his father’s family reunion during a 3 day weekend, his father had been eager to see his family again after so long as he moved away to attend a university in Los Angeles. John had met Carol during their second year attending school and had stayed together since getting married a few months after graduating and Bobby being born only a year later, they moved to the sub-urban area less than 2 hours from where John worked, they lived a very normal life for the next 5 years. It was some days after little Bobby’s fifth birthday when he was out playing in the yard with his father that his mother called John inside to help clean up some broken glass, his father left to help quickly say he would be back in ten minutes at most and left his son to play in the sand box. Less than a minute had passed when a young girl had appeared from the somewhat dense foliage that acted as the property line for the Miller’s home, the girl looked to be Bobby’s age and he assumed it was a neighbor’s daughter.
“Do you want to play with me?” asked the girl.
He had only played with a few children from school and his father and wanted to be friends with the girl that stood before him so he agreed, the girl said to follow her and they play hid and seek in the place she just came out of so he got up and followed her, unfortunately for young Bobby the person he followed had not been girl but a mischievous grass fairy that made a game of making people get lost in her own world if they couldn’t find her within an hour. The young boy could not find her so he decided to head home and found the way he came back to lead nowhere, he kept wandering about for a long time knowing his parent must be worried. Eventually he fell down tired and hungry and passed out, he awoke a few hours later to discover the was surrounded by what looked like more children but their skin glowed faintly and he could not understand to word that came from their mouths. One of the kid seemed to realize this and spoke to the others and left briefly only to come back with a fruit in his hand, he handed it to the boy who had never seen this kind of fruit before the child who brought it made motions to eat the fruit indicating it was good by rubbing his belly. Bobby was now thirsty and hungry ate the fruit with little hesitation, it was as soft a marshmallow and juicy as watermelon he finished it quickly and although his belly felt full he wished he could have another. The children around him having waited for him to finish began speaking word he could understand.
“Hi, can you understand what I’m saying now?” said the child that seemed to glow a bit brighter than the rest, he nodded his confirmation with a confused look on his face that brightest child understood and answered, he explained who they are, where they are, and what he ate.
“I can understand your confusion, we are the spirits of this area you seemed to have wandered into our world by mistake we can help you get home if you tell us where you’re from.” The bright child seemed to act older then he looked and if what he said was true then he could have been older but these thought when over Bobby’s head as he was still a bit shocked by the first part of what he said after a moment he responded.
“A girl, I followed and girl here, she asked me to play with her but I want to go home now please, I miss my mom and dad. Can you help me get home?” He said with tears forming at his eyes, the spirits looked at each other quickly with a look of know who he was talking about, one of them spouted some words of having helped the girl get home already knowing that one of their own had caused this they didn’t want to look bad. They guided him around to locate where he came from and a little after an hour they found the entrance that lead back to where he came from, they told him to follow the path in front of him and he would get home quickly, over eight hours had passed since the whole ordeal had started so he began to run where they told him but turned around quickly.
“Thank you for helping me and thanks for the fruit it was yummy.” His parent had taught him to always thank those that helped him, they waved good bye and said to consider the fruit a gift. He turned and ran back and ran right in to his dad as he was going outside, Bobby ran up hugged his father crying that he missed him and that it was scary without him. His father hugged his son back seeing Bobby crying confused him.
“Hey champ what wrong I was only gone for a few, I’m it only been like 8 minutes, did you miss me that much?” replied John as he saw his sons face questioning him, they when inside where Bobby began to tell his parent of his ordeal and of the spirit that helped him get home his parent smiled and nodded through the story and just said to each other what a great imagination their son had. He insisted it was real but his parent kept brushing it off as a fantasy. He kept the memory of this event and the spirits he had met in the back of his mind until he slowly began to forget, a few year later during fourth grade a transferred into his class his parents had moved here from Vietnam and didn’t know very much English so he never spoke much, one day during lunch Bobby was in line behind the transfer student and heard him mutter something about being hungry he responded without thinking.
“Yeah I’m hungry too.” At this transfer student turned around and look at him puzzled.
“Did you say something?”
“Yeah, I’m hungry too.” He repeated.
“You can understand what I’m saying?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” Bobby asked.
“Because I’m speaking in Vietnamese.”
“No you’re not you’re speaking like normal.” At this the Vietnamese boy looked confused s did everyone around watching the 2 boys yell at each other one in English the other in Vietnamese. Later when a teacher came to see what was happening Bobby seemed to understand that h was the only one that could understand what the transfer student said, he decided to lie about the whole ordeal and decided it was better if he just faced the consequences of making a scene at lunch. He had no idea why he decided to lie but he decided it was the best, these events were caused by the effects of the fruit he had eaten as a child. As he grew older he stated to lie more and more even when the truth was obvious, he felt bad lying but he couldn’t stop. One day during his 1th year of middle school his father mentioned a family reunion he wanted to visit and they were packing up for the trip and he was digging out clothes from his closet when he noticed a small stuck in the corner of the closet. Scrawled on the tiny paper was written in a child hand writing “we’re sorry” he didn’t know where it came from but a feeling of being lost slightly struck him.
He finished packing and they left the following morning to the airport. As he sat at his window seat he saw an old man and his wife and who he assumed was their son seated behind them.
Bobby was staring out the window, almost an hour into the flight he noticed the air a few yard from his window start to shimmer and glowed purple he asked his parent what it as but they said there was nothing there, the phenomena went on for another half hour when a change occurred only two people noticed in different way Bobby saw the air that glowed purple become darker and more defined in shape but still shrouded in a haze that clouded its form he also heard a roar that made his entire being tremble and resounded deep within his head.
“Oh wow look like we got a bit of a sudden storm don’t we?” said John Miller as he looked out the window and all he could see was a storm. Bobby realized he was the only one who had heard the roar, he look around the cabin and saw people muttering about the weather outside, except the person seated behind him. His gaze was transfixed on the window, or rather what was beyond it as he realized this he was about to speak to him when he heard another roar and fell into his seat as the roar slowly stopped and was replaced with a vice equally terrifying.
“LOOK UPON ME AND KNOW THE FACE OF YOUR END YOU WHO CARRIES THE VILE DEAMONLORD’S BLOOD. I THE ONE BORN OF THE HATE AND DESPAIR OF THOSE SEALED AWAY AND THE BLOOD AND FLESH OF THOSE SLAIN AT YOUR ANCESTRAL BLOOD HAVE JOURNEYED THROUGH COUNTLESS WORLD FOR COUNTLESS AGES TO DESTROY THE BLOOD LINE AND ENSURE THE DEAMONLORD NEVER REVIVES.”
Fear seeped into every fiber of Bobby’s very existence at the thunderous words he heard he looked around and saw people still talking about the weather. He looked behind him and saw the young man no longer looking out the window, he was now clutching his head and was sweating profusely but was quiet none the less, and the people besides him looked concerned but did take any action. He looked out the window again and Bobby now say circles forming around the hazy mass of air and again heard the voice.
“NOW CARRIER OF DEAMON’S BLOOD PERISH LIKE THE COUNTLESS OTHERS BEFORE YOU AND BRING PEACE TO THE SOULS OF THOSE SLAIN TO YOUR ANCESTOR. I COMMAND THE FIRE THAT BURNS ALL BEFORE IT TO NOTHING TO HEED MY ORDER AND THE FURY OF THE HEAVENS TO BEND TO MY WILL, UNDER THE NAME OF VEJADUL ADHIXON STRIKE DOWN THE ENEMY BEFORE ME ~HEAVENS ETERNAL FLAME~ ~DIVINE PLASMA BOLT~ .
As the voice in his head stopped Bobby looked out the window and saw the circles multiply in number and in the next instant he saw a silent hell unfold before him as the first of the monster attacks hit a turbine temporarily silencing the world around him, the expression of fear could be seen on those in the cabin. The following attacks brought the sound of the world crashing back along with the screams of the passengers as a wing was blown off followed by the tail of the plane. The world seemed to slow down as he saw the next attack heading for where he sat he looked and saw people who hadn’t bucked their seatbelts getting ripped from the plane from the pressure and the ones who had sat in their seats either foolishly ripping at their seatbelts or dead. His parent had closed their eyes and held hands praying for help from their god, they forgot about Bobby and only prayed for their own safety. He didn’t care as he turned and saw the beam of lightning discharge from one of the circle pointed at him just two things crossed his mind. He remembered a scene from his childhood where he was talking to a glowing kid, he wondered how they were doing and why he had forgotten them. The said his second thought out loud as he turned to look behind him he saw the man looking at the hell around them.
“What did you see outside the window?” he never got and answer as the lightning exploded that section of the plane.
